I served aboard the USS Saratoga during the "Achille Lauro" Hijacking and the Libyan "Line of Death" incidents. It's hard to believe I was there in the middle of history. If I had to do all over again, I would, in a heartbeat. Of course, knowing what I know now things might be a little bit different. The below pictures were taken by PH1 William A. Shayka, who served aboard the Sara the same time I did.

A note from the photographer: "PH1 Paul Goodrich and I flew on this photo opportunity. We both had at least two cameras loaded with color print or color slide film. I don’t even know how many images were taken that day, but we both shot a lot of pictures that look very similar. We also took a series of images of the Saratoga by itself." |
