I made it through forty-three
years but I don't remember much about the last twenty-three; I think they
were alcohol-related. "I can see clearly now, the grain is
gone..." I quit drinking October 31, 2005,
and I have to tell you, it's a huge difference. (Incidentally, I quit
smoking on October 31, 2001.) You
know the saying "If
I knew then ... "? Yep, it's just like that. I'm glad I quit drinking.
Have you ever gotten the urge to say what's on your mind about politics and
politicians? I do too: some of these politicians are
@#$%*#% idiots. From
Where I Sit is my soapbox when I've got an opinion to share. Take it with a grain of
salt, after all it's only my opinion.
And everyone knows that
"opinions are like @$$**les ... "

My last road
trip was in August. I went back to the old stomping grounds for my
25th high
school reunion. I had a pretty good time and got to
see a lot of old friends. I saw an old crush (I
wrote a poem to her in 8th grade) and saw a football teammate (he's
gotten taller). I re-met several people I haven't seen in over 25
years and had an awesome time.

|
Since the
reunion, I've gotten to know one of my classmates a little better. I
knew her in school, but not very well. (Thank you, Al Gore, for
inventing the Internet - it's helped to bridge the 200 miles between us.)
I'm going back over to visit soon.

The Magical
Mystery Trip

Wow. My
weekend trip to Pensacola was great! The drive over was in wonderful
weather; Interstate 10 was virtually litter-free; traffic was steady and
there were no major delays.
|
|
I had such a
cool time while I was in Pensacola - I've got this happy-go-lucky
groove-thing going on. The Best Damn Hostess in Pensacola was my
Hostess: you can't convince me otherwise. On Friday night, we went out
to eat at a pretty nice place, the
Coach & Four. I'd been there once before so I was looking forward
to a nice dinner in a comfortable atmosphere. I wasn't let down.

On Saturday, we
got up early, had breakfast, and then headed to the
Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show. The day was fantastic! It
felt like being back in the Navy again when I heard the roar of the jet
engines. It was great to be among the hometown crowd. Being on
the Navy base was like going home. I had great company at the air show
and that made the day even better.
|
|
After the show,
we headed back to one of the public leaning posts and met up with one of my
hostess' friends and had a few cold ones.

When I left
yesterday afternoon, I did not want to go. I thoroughly enjoyed
myself.
